At the assessment center for fitness to drive, we discuss your driving experience and write a report on behalf of your canton’s road traffic office.

Has your driving licence been withdrawn?

The administrative authorities or the road traffic office of your canton has asked you to undergo an evaluation or to consult a recognised and trained traffic psychologist in order to establish if you are fit to drive.

What is a fitness to drive assessment?

It is an interview with a trained psychologist in traffic psychology to evaluate among other things your driving experience, the changes which have occurred since your traffic offenses and the risk of relapse. The evaluation can also include an assessment through computer tests based on your offenses. The complete assessment will take between two and three hours.

Following this you will be informed as to the further steps to be taken. This can concern the rehabilitation procedures which you might have to follow in case you are deemed not fit to drive.

Have you failed three times the practical driving test ?

You failed the practical driving test three times.

The aim of the evaluation is to understand why you made mistakes during your practical driving tests despite your driving training and to make recommendations so that your fourth practical driving test should be successful. You will pass a few computer-based tests and have an interview with a trained psychologist in traffic psychology. The assessment lasts between one and two hours.
